yea even gas powered guns can't injure you if they hit skin.  It just leaves a welt.

okay people, airsoft is an extremely popular sport that is with the right safety equipment and COMMON SENSE, is very safe (other than the occasional breakage of skin from a bb). But all you people who are saying their kids are playing with airsoft guns and get hurt because they dont use eye equipment, IT IS THEIR FAULT that they are not responsible enough to have common sense, AND IT IS YOUR FAULT AS A PARENT that you dont teach your kids proper safety or restrain them from playing airsoft it you think its so dangerous.

then again, those kids that sometimes play airsoft in the open public that conflicts with the safety of civilians, is most likely against the law, but THOSE KIDS SPECIFICALLY should be punished, NOTH THE SPORT OF AIRSOFT ITSELF, like so many parents want it to be.

also, age doesnt really matter, because anyone not matter what the age is, can make an idiotic mistake with a gun, real or not!   but if you are concerned about buying you kid an airsoft gun becuase of the danger, do some reasearch to find out which guns are low - powered enough so you fell safe about them using it (most likely a spring pistol or a very weak aeg that runs on double AA; which is pretty week but is still automatic).   and by the way, im 13 and i play airsoft every week or two, and ive pretty much never done anyhting stupid with my gun ( which i have a sniper upgraded to at least 475 fps)    IN THE END IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHO THE KID IS AND HOW INDIVIDUALLY RESPONSIBLE THAT PERSON IS!

Whether air soft guns can break skin, I don't know, but I do know that they can puncture vinyl siding. I have had several pieces of broken siding on my house due to the neighbors playing with their air soft guns. I just paid to have someone come out and replace a couple pieces of broken siding, only to have the neighbor shoot a hole in my siding yesterday. He doesn't believe that his gun is capable of that, but I am convinced that the damage is from the air soft guns. He and his friends were hiding behind the corners of my house and shooting each other. Soon after, I find the hole in my house and find several plastic beads on the ground in front of it. It was a cold day, so the siding was cold and more brittle than it would be in warmer weather. His father is somewhat in denial about it too, so how can I prevent it from happening again and again?

Umm, no. Violence isn't the answer. Persistence, and authority is. Go up to hid door, and DO NOT leave until he agrees not to let his kids with Airsoft guns around your house again. If he doesn't, the next time his kid's fire Airsoft guns around you house. Talk to him again, an if he still won't tell his kid's to respect your property, call the police. He, and hid kids have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to your property. And therefore, are in breach of the law: Destruction of property.

I'm not saying be an ***hole, just make sure he understands, and don't let them be the boss of your own house!

for any children under 16 it would be wise to buy them a gun that is under 250 fps. because with any more power it begins to become more and more an more dangerous. a gun under 250 fps at most will leave a small red mark on the skin and when hit on the skin with one will only sting for a few moments; however an air soft gun over 250 fps, for example a 350 fps rifle or a 450 fps sniper could do serious skin damage and could even penetrate the skin causing bleeding and severe pain. from testing a 400 fps gun I have seen the damage capabilities up close- it can break through glass from 100' feet away. It can go easily right in a glass bottle and out the other side, it can shatter inch thick wood and can even leave large dents in the fiber sidings of a car. now you can imagine what it can do to human flesh.

I would recommend buying an air soft gun that is smaller and less powerful, for example a mini m16 or a mini Uzi. these guns are fun for kids to ply with but do not look super realistic and are usually cheaper as well. most electric guns of this size can be bought at almost any sporting store like wall mart or Sports Authority. they are usually about about 100 fps- 150 fps. these guns are safe compared to full sized rifles and machine guns and are fun and safe to shoot at one another.

has anyone heard of a child's tooth being broken by an airsoft gun?
» left by Anonymous 3 years 93 days ago.
Never! Unless it is a very high powered CO2 Pistol or something like that:)

i've seen a tooth injury occur with a velocity of 330 fps, so full face protection is greatly recommended with higher power guns when short rage shots can happen, if nothing else at least wear a bandana or make a good effort to keep your mough closed

my mom wont get me an air soft gun how can I change her mind
» left by D from NJ 3 years 39 days ago.
Show her a web-site of Air-soft gun saftey. A video from youtube that is educational is even better. Tell her that you will be responsible, and even tell her that you WANT to buy a mask or at LEAST eye-goggles with it. If you wont want to buy/use goggles or masks, then you dont appreciate the dangers of guns. be sure to buy one with a orange-tip, otherwise your mom will instantly connect it with an image of a real gun and wont buy it. If you can, buy one with more unrealistic colors, or even a see-through case to even further disconnect it with images of real guns. i know multiple-colors and an orange-tip arent cool, but hey, an airsoft-gun is an airsoft-gun. The only other injury possible (besides small bruises or cuts-n-scrapes is breaking a tooth. Breaking teeth is VERy unlikely unless you are at point blank range or are using a VERY powerful EXPENSIVE gun.

Also, promise your mom that your friends are not using high-powered guns. If you rmom is strict like mine, she wont buy an airsoft-gun at all. If she is that strict, then you will be lucky to get a pistol. This is what i did for nerf guns (as my mom is an over-earing freak).

I think that so long as the people who are playing any airsoft, paintball, or other fake gun game respect the rules and understand that it is just a game and not the real thing, they should be able to play. I have owned a few airsoft guns and I don't point them at anyone unless I am in a game.
